![]() Rarely, it's completely impossible to change the gender, like the exemple with pregnancy in my previous post, I was thinking of Cayne, or it would change the game too drastically like Wife Quest, Rabi Ribi or arguably Bayonetta. You can play a female Legatus in Expedition Rome, and japanese like to change historical or legendary characters to girls, like King Arthur in the Fate franchise for exemple. I guess a non japanese Yakuza wouldn't work, but there are enough mangas or movies with yakuza girls to have it in a video game, even if in the real world, it wouldn't happen. Of course, there are some exceptions and limitation when you want to change the ethnic group or the gender. It would be very simple to allow for some character variation.īut as I said, you can put some customization for every single characters, why should someone have this specific hair cut or color, eye color, nose shape or skin tone ? Especially with cut-scenes being rendered by the game engine these days, instead of pre-rendered and stuck in as movies. There is practically no reason why modern games can't have some sort of character creation or customization. So yes - even in Mario games, character creation is important. Even that simple little choice made the game much more fun for me. The player had the choice of Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool, or Toad. (among other issues it had that I didn't personally like) Sure it's a good game, but it could have been better with character creation.Įven in games like Mario - for example I liked Super Mario 2 a lot better than the first Mario, because you could actually pick your own character in it. Like I never played the witcher 3 because it lacked character creation. In fact games that lack it are the reason I don't play many games. ![]() ![]() Character creation is always good for games. This game is one of those.Įlden Ring is written around a specific person, the player. I don't mind character creation at all (and even enjoy it when it gives me certain option) - but a game that has a story written around a specific character doesn't need it. Why would I complain about it? Beyond the fact I haven't played it (and have no intention of it), I have no problem with it anyway. Originally posted by zenstrata:Why shouldn't it?
